Why I Decided to go Vegan and Tips on Transitioning
I get a lot of questions about why I decided to go vegan, how I went vegan, and how I maintain a healthy lifestyle. About six years ago I decided that I wanted to make a change in my diet and that I wanted to be healthy. I went into Barnes and Noble and picked up several books on health. I began to research! One book that stood out was “The Beauty Detox” by Kimberly Snyder. That book literally changed my life, it open my eyes to a whole new world and since then I went on my journey to being healthier and never looked back. Finding out that all the food that I was eating was causing mucous build up in my body, woke me up. As I continue to grow and become better and better I find that the biggest battle is with in your mind.
I started to transition and give up meat and dairy, which was a challenge at first, until I programmed my mind to not want to eat food that was detrimental to my health. I continued to to my research on being vegan and being healthy. So, I went vegan and focused on eating for health. Optimal health is the goal and it is important to remember that not all vegan food is healthy. There are tons of vegan processed foods that aren't beneficial to your health. So, it is important that your diet becomes packed with foods that are alkaline and plant based.
Tips on transitioning to vegan:
#1 Do your research!!! This is very important for you to changing your lifestyle. Read a lot of books and maintain knowledge of what works best and what foods to incorporate into your diet for optimal health, that way you won't be deprived.
#2 Make sure your home is conducive to healthy living! Meaning, you don't want to have your kitchen stocked with unhealthy foods and meat. So, go shopping and fill up your fridge and cabinets with healthy vegan foods.
# 3 Your mindset! With anything, the biggest battle is in your mind. If you tell yourself you can't do something, guess what, you can't. Set a goal date for yourself and makes steps to transition to reach that goal. Your body will eventually get used to your knew lifestyle, you just have to stick with it until it becomes a habit.
